On Tuesday, a government official made the announcement that the study of the project to build Iraq’s largest clean energy station had been completed.
In an interview with dinaropinions.com, Mazen Akram, director of the Qazaniya district in the far east of Diyala, stated, “A government consulting team has completed studying the project to build the largest clean energy station in Iraq within the borders of the Qazaniya desert, with an area of thousands of dunams.”
He went on to say that “the land was determined through an in-depth study that lasted for many months, taking into consideration the dimensions of the atmosphere and its variables in addition to the economic feasibility with the security dimension.” He noted that “the project will have two tracks, the first is solar energy and the second is wind energy through giant fans capable of producing electricity around the clock.” The project will have two tracks.
“The project, according to its various stages, can produce no less than 1,000 megawatts, which is enough to achieve energy self-sufficiency at the level of Diyala without any polluting emissions into the atmosphere,” he stated.
It is noteworthy that Baghdad is pushing for the continuation of clean projects that use wind and solar energy to generate electricity.
