Diyala Provincial Council denies halting clean energy projects on orders from Baghdad

Officials in Diyala have denied reports claiming that clean energy projects in the province were stopped by orders from Baghdad.

Diyala Provincial Council Chairman Omar al-Karawi said the claims spreading on some websites and social media platforms are false.

He confirmed that the council has not received any official notice about halting the projects.

According to al-Karawi, work on the clean energy projects is still moving forward. Specialized companies have already started operations after the project sites were selected and logistical support was arranged.

He explained that once completed, these projects are expected to add between 200 and 300 megawatts to Iraq’s national electricity grid.

Al-Karawi also said the four project locations were chosen based on technical studies prepared by experts.

He described clean energy as an important step for Iraq, saying it can reduce pressure on the national power grid and improve electricity supply, especially during periods of high demand.
