The General Company for Grain Processing is preparing to launch a unified electronic platform for bran sales auctions across Baghdad and all Iraqi provinces, according to the Ministry of Trade.
The decision was announced during a meeting at the company’s headquarters, led by Acting Director General Dr. Haider Nouri Al-Kar’awi and attended by senior officials and members of the sales and valuation committees.
The new platform will allow bidders to participate in auctions online through a standardized system. To register, participants will need to provide official documents, a VIP QiCard, and proof of a financial balance. Registered bidders will also receive SMS alerts about upcoming auctions.
Officials say the platform is designed to create a fairer and more transparent auction process by giving all participants equal access to information and reducing the possibility of side agreements.
The meeting also discussed concerns raised by bidders regarding differences in bran quality between government and private mills, as well as varying levels of impurities in the product. The company said it will review these issues and work on appropriate solutions.
Al-Kar’awi emphasized the Ministry of Trade’s commitment to transparency and fighting corruption, warning that any violations or unauthorized agreements outside the official process will face legal action.
