A new non-profit organization called has launched with the goal of accelerating institutional adoption of Ethereum, its Layer 2 networks, and the broader ecosystem.

The organization will serve as a neutral point of contact for banks, asset managers, custodians, fintech companies, market infrastructure providers, and sovereign institutions that are exploring blockchain technology and digital assets.

Ethereum Institutional is backed by several prominent figures and organizations in the crypto industry, including Joe Lubin, BitMine Immersion Technologies, and SharpLink Gaming, along with other individual and institutional contributors.

The group was created following more than a year of engagement efforts involving financial institutions and industry participants. Its launch comes as major financial firms continue evaluating blockchain platforms for stablecoins, tokenization, and digital financial infrastructure.

According to the organization, Ethereum currently hosts roughly $180 billion in stablecoins, representing about 60% of the total stablecoin market. It also supports around two-thirds of all tokenized real-world assets, reinforcing its position as a leading blockchain for institutional applications.

Ethereum Institutional said its work will focus on five key areas: institutional education and engagement, market intelligence, ecosystem marketing, industry requirements and standards, and institutional events.

The organization reports that it has already established relationships with more than 500 institutions, including banks, asset managers, custodians, sovereign entities, and market infrastructure providers. It also highlighted its Institutional Ethereum Forum, which brought together more than 150 senior executives representing organizations with a combined $250 trillion in assets under management.

At launch, the group will focus on major financial centers including New York, London, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Future expansion plans include Zurich, Frankfurt, Tokyo, and Abu Dhabi.

Supporters of the initiative believe it will help traditional financial institutions better understand Ethereum and engage with the ecosystem more effectively.

Tom Lee, chairman of BitMine, said financial firms are currently making technology decisions that could shape global capital markets for years to come and that Ethereum is increasingly part of those discussions.

Joe Lubin echoed that view, describing Ethereum as a foundation for programmable and verifiable trust. He said traditional finance is already moving toward blockchain-based infrastructure and that the new organization can help institutions participate more confidently.

The launch follows the recent creation of another Ethereum-focused non-profit, . While Ethlabs focuses on research, scaling, and protocol development, Ethereum Institutional will concentrate on education, outreach, and institutional adoption.

The new organization arrives at a time when institutional interest in Ethereum continues to grow. Companies such as BitMine and SharpLink have increased their Ethereum holdings in recent months, while demand for tokenized real-world assets and blockchain-based financial products continues to expand.

Ethereum Institutional aims to build on that momentum by helping large financial institutions better understand Ethereum’s capabilities and providing a clearer path for adoption across the global financial sector.
