Gold prices remained largely stable in Baghdad on Thursday, while recording modest gains in Erbil, according to market data from local gold traders.
In Baghdad’s wholesale markets on Al-Nahr Street, the selling price of one mithqal (approximately 4.5 grams) of 21-karat Gulf, Turkish, and European gold stood at 887,000 Iraqi dinars, with a buying price of 883,000 dinars. These prices were unchanged from the previous trading session.
Meanwhile, 21-karat Iraqi gold was sold at 857,000 dinars per mithqal, while the buying price remained at 853,000 dinars.
In retail jewelry shops across Baghdad, the selling price of 21-karat imported Gulf gold ranged between 890,000 and 900,000 dinars per mithqal. Iraqi-made 21-karat gold was sold at prices ranging from 860,000 to 870,000 dinars per mithqal, depending on craftsmanship and retailer margins.
In Erbil, gold prices edged slightly higher. The selling price of a mithqal of 22-karat gold reached approximately 943,000 dinars, while 21-karat gold was priced at around 900,000 dinars per mithqal. The price of 18-karat gold rose to approximately 772,000 dinars per mithqal.
The stability of gold prices in Baghdad and the modest increase in Erbil come amid ongoing fluctuations in global precious metals markets and movements in the local exchange rate, factors that continue to influence gold trading activity across Iraq.
