HashKey Group announced on Sept. 2 that it has joined the Digital Assets Advisory Services Industry Working Group of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), becoming the first Asian digital asset service provider to participate in the initiative.
The Hong Kong-based company will contribute to discussions focused on the issuance, transfer, settlement, and custody of tokenized securities within institutional financial markets.
According to HashKey, the working group now includes more than 100 financial institutions, asset managers, exchanges, and digital asset companies. Participants include major financial organizations such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq, and the New York Stock Exchange.
HashKey said it will bring experience gained through its involvement in Hong Kong’s regulated tokenization projects. The company has participated in initiatives led by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, including Project Ensemble, which explores the use of tokenized deposits and wholesale central bank money in digital asset transactions.
The firm is also a member of Hong Kong’s Tokenised Bond Expert Group and has supported projects involving tokenized bonds, money market funds, exchange-traded funds, and structured notes.
DTCC established the working group to support the development of its upcoming tokenization platform. The service is designed to allow eligible securities held within DTCC’s custody system to be represented on blockchain networks while maintaining existing ownership records, compliance controls, and investor protections.
The organization completed a series of tokenized securities transactions in a production environment earlier this year, testing functions including equity transfers, collateral pledges, securities lending, and delivery-versus-payment settlements.
DTCC plans to launch its standardized tokenization services in October 2026, initially offering compliance and distribution controls, with additional features expected in later phases.
HashKey said its role will focus on providing regulatory and operational insights from the Asia-Pacific region as discussions continue ahead of the planned launch. No separate commercial partnership, tokenized product, or integration agreement between HashKey and DTCC was announced.
