Integrity announces the return of a quarter of a billion dinars from a government bank official

The Federal Integrity Commission said today, Friday, that it had successfully recovered around 25 billion dinars from a former government bank employee after the employee had been found guilty of a crime and had paid a hefty punishment.

“As a result of the legal procedures taken in the convict’s case,” the Authority’s Government Media and Communications Office stated, “Rafidain Bank/main branch received a financial sum of (177,622) thousand US dollars, equivalent to (232,684,820) million dinars.” Assistant Director, Khalidiya Branch, Al-Rafidain Bank.

“The money received by the bank represents the building’s rent for the “Almas Tower” from January 1, 2023, to October 31, 2023,” he said, saying that “a ruling was issued on August 25, 2022 by the Rusafa Criminal Court – the Second Tribunal.” It states that the convict’s portion of the aforementioned property must be seized for the bank’s benefit and that these sums cannot be distributed without a court order.

According to Article (36) of the Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Law No. (39 of 2015), the Assistant Director of the Rafidain Bank / Khaldiya Branch will be imprisoned for fifteen years and fined ten million dollars, according to the ruling decision issued by the court in the case that the Commission investigated and referred to the judiciary.
