Integrity demands the numbers of members of the provincial councils, their heads, governors, and statements of their financial liabilities

The names and numbers of the current governorate council members, together with the identities of the heads of councils, governors, and their deputies, were requested by the Federal Integrity Commission on Saturday.

“The Prevention Department addressed all governorate councils in order to provide them with the numbers of council members, their names, and the names of council heads and governors,” the Authority’s Government Information and Communications Office stated in a statement received by, adding that it “stressed the necessity of submitting their financial disclosure statements within the periods specified in the law.”

The department stated that the taxpayer must submit the form within ninety (90) days of taking up the job or position, the date of his relationship ending with them, or in January of each year, according to Clause (First) of Article (17) of the Amended Integrity and Illicit Gain Commission Law (30 of 2011), the Information Office continued.

He said that “obligating officials to disclose their financial liabilities, their foreign activities, investments, assets, donations, or large benefits that may lead to a conflict of interest contributes to strengthening the confidence of the Iraqi people in the government and state institutions.”

It is important to remember that Article (16/First) of the Authority’s effective law requires the governors, their deputies, assistants, advisors, (the mayors), and district directors, as well as the heads and members of governorate councils organized in a region and those not, to disclose their financial liabilities in Clauses (M and N).

In late June of last year, the Commission declared that it had made contact with the Independent High Electoral Commission in order to work together. To inform those assigned; To furnish the Commission with a list including the names of individuals included, party leaders and members of the founding bodies; To complete the financial disclosure form.
