Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Washington on Wednesday during his official visit to the United States.
The meeting focused on strengthening relations between Iraq and Jordan, with both sides discussing ways to expand economic and development cooperation. They also reviewed the progress of several key joint projects, including the Basra-Aqaba Oil Pipeline and the electricity interconnection project aimed at improving energy cooperation between the two countries.
In addition to economic matters, the leaders exchanged views on recent regional and international developments. Both sides stressed the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy, emphasizing the need for peaceful solutions to ongoing challenges in the region.
During the meeting, Safadi conveyed greetings from Jordan’s King Abdullah II and delivered a formal invitation for Prime Minister al-Zaidi to visit Jordan.
He also reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Iraq and continuing efforts to deepen cooperation across various sectors.
The discussions highlighted the strong ties between the two neighboring countries and their shared interest in advancing economic development, energy cooperation, and regional stability.
