Iraq signs Contract with GCCIA for Import of Electricity

For the purpose of importing electricity, Iraq has entered into a contract with the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA).

The project aims to reduce Iraq’s reliance on costly conventional energy sources and improve Iraq’s energy stability.

By 2025, Iraq will receive 3.94 TWh (terawatt-hours) annually at competitive rates from the Gulf-Iraq electricity link.
