The Iraqi Cabinet has approved Resolution No. 23089 for 2023, which accepts the recommendation from the Ministerial Energy Council. The resolution allocates $202,576,000 from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Electricity. The funds will be used for the rehabilitation of Units 2 and 3 at the Hartha Thermal Station (pictured) and the Doura Gas Station.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated that these projects are crucial for powering the electricity grid.
The Ministry of Finance will fund 50% of the allocation for this year, in accordance with the Federal General Budget Law for the next three years.
