The Ministry of Oil emphasized the necessity of pricing the produced raw gas, investing it fully, and restricting its use.
According to a statement released on Friday by the ministry, “the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Extraction Affairs, Basem Muhammad Khadir, chaired the meeting on the pricing of raw gas, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber, and the general managers of the relevant departments, as well as representatives of the Dhi Qar Oil and Southern Gas companies,”
He went on to say that, in addition to coming up with a pricing strategy for gas, investment in gas produced in Dhi Qar Governorate and mechanisms for accelerating its full investment were discussed during the meeting.
According to the statement, the Undersecretary emphasized that the Dhi Qar Oil and Southern Gas Companies and the relevant departments needed to prepare studies and future plans to develop the sector in addition to taking the necessary steps to accelerate investment and establish a unified price for all extractive companies.
In accordance with the government’s plans to increase national gas production and reduce associated gas flaring, Khader noted that the Ministry is keen to develop effective policies for pricing raw gas and develop the necessary infrastructure to fully invest in it. This is necessary to achieve sustainable development goals and increase economic revenues.
