The devaluation was not implemented until the complete withdrawal of US military forces from Iraq had been finalized. I view this devaluation primarily as a temporary economic mechanism designed to accomplish several immediate objectives. I do not consider this to be a long-term strategic initiative. In my assessment, this measure will likely remain in effect for no longer than approximately one month.
