Preface, Introduction and Executive Summary

My recent book, “Iraq Petroleum Sector Chronicle – Volume 5”, delves into the events of the tumultuous year 2014 in Iraq, marked by a convergence of challenges and existential threats. It has been published by Lambert Academic Publishing.

This article is divided into two parts. The first part includes the “Preface” which was written by Dr. Hussain Al-Shahristani, former Minister of Oil and former Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs. Mr Jiyad is an independent development consultant, scholar and associate with the former Centre for Global Energy Studies (CGES) in London. He has previously held senior positions as an economist with the Iraq National Oil Company and Iraq’s Ministry of Oil, as well as Chief Expert for the Council of Ministers, Director at the Ministry of Trade, and International Specialist with UN organizations in Uganda, Sudan, and Jordan.
