The Parliamentary Legal Committee made the announcement today, Sunday, that the new legislative session of Parliament will begin on Tuesday, the day after tomorrow. However, its sessions will take place approximately ten days after the start of the legislative session.

Raed Al-Maliki, a member of the committee, issued a statement to the media stating that “the House of Representatives will begin its second legislative session on July 9, next Tuesday.” He added, However, the first session will take place after Muharram’s tenth day.

He explained that “amending the staff law, the right to access information law, the law to recover the proceeds of corruption, amending Article 2 of personal status, the service law for members of the Popular Mobilization Forces, and many other laws are the laws that will top the council’s work.”

Parliament broadened its regulative meeting on May 9 for an entire month, until June 9, to decide on the spending plan.

Since Wednesday, July 17, is the tenth of Muharram, Parliament will not meet for ten days before the start of the new legislative term.
