Changing the currency and issuing new denominations are two different tasks, and… After speaking with my CBI contact…I was informed of the following: A redenomination that results from eliminating the zeros is not implied by the issuance of newer currencies. And the secret to comprehension is this. Rather than eliminating the zeros project, it entails creating entirely new denominations that have never been used before, such as the 100 or reintroducing the 50, which was previously removed from circulation. I understand that many of you will wonder if the more recent lower denominations aren’t also brand-new notes. Yes, they are, however they are included in the list for eliminating the zeros and are considered a redenomination rather than a new denominations.
