Individual from the Place of Delegates Jassim Al-Moussawi affirmed today, Sunday, that the Individual Status Regulation was battled before it was introduced in the Place of Delegates for various reasons.
Al-Moussawi stated in a statement that “there are external agendas that move public opinion to fight the laws that are important to the country” and that “the amendment of the Personal Status Law was followed by many suspicions, challenges, and doubts before it was read under the dome of Parliament.”
He added, “The law permits everybody to pick the faction or religion they wish to wed into without offering anybody any chances,” taking note of that “there are numerous issues that families are experiencing right now, and passing the law might restrict them.”
It is noteworthy that the Legal Committee presented the Personal Status Law to the House of Representatives to address numerous family issues in Iraq.
