An Iraqi lawmaker says there are serious questions about how tax money is being handled.
MP Mona Hussein revealed that there is a lack of clarity and transparency when it comes to government tax revenues. She said many in parliament are asking where this money is going and how it’s being spent.
According to her, lawmakers are now moving to open this file and investigate the issue more closely, especially because large amounts are being collected from citizens and businesses without clear reporting.
At the same time, she stressed the need for a broader plan on energy. She said Iraq should not rely on just one source and must start diversifying to ensure stable services and lower costs in the future.
In short, she’s calling for more transparency in finances and smarter planning in energy.
