David Schwartz joined a discussion on X about blockchain privacy after Mert Mumtaz asked users for name ideas for a new privacy-focused protocol.

Schwartz suggested several possible names, including Umbra, Veil, Solstice, Nyx, Specter, Obsidian, and Obscurant. He jokingly added that most of the names were probably already taken but still sounded good to him.

The exchange quickly attracted attention across the crypto community because Schwartz is strongly connected to Ripple and the XRP ecosystem, while Mumtaz is one of the best-known developers in the Solana community.

Even though the interaction was casual, many users saw it as an interesting moment where figures from two rival blockchain ecosystems publicly discussed the growing importance of privacy technology in crypto. However, there was no indication of any official partnership between Ripple, Helius, or Solana Labs.

The conversation also comes as privacy tools gain more attention across the industry. Recent developments in the Solana ecosystem have focused heavily on zero-knowledge technology and private transaction systems designed to protect user data while still allowing blockchain verification.

At the same time, Schwartz continues to remain active in public crypto discussions even after stepping back from his daily role at Ripple. He still participates in projects connected to the XRP Ledger and regularly comments on major issues affecting the crypto industry.

The wider debate highlights a growing trend in crypto markets, where developers are increasingly focused on balancing transparency with user privacy as blockchain technology evolves.
