The director of “Visa” company discusses with the Sudanese the electronic payment system in Iraq

During his meeting with Andrew Toure, the Regional President of Visa for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa on Thursday, Prime Minister Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani reaffirmed that the government has made banking and economic reform one of its top priorities and that it actively seeks and welcomes cooperation in this area.

This Thursday afternoon, Mr. Andrew Toure, the Regional President of Visa for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, together with his accompanying group, were met by Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, the Prime Minister.

The prime minister reaffirmed that the government considers banking and economic reform to be among its top objectives and that it actively seeks and appreciates collaboration in this area, citing the Council of Ministers’ approval of the electronic payment system as evidence.

His Excellency commended the business for its collaboration in advancing digital transformation and electronic payment technologies, whether it was by educating people about electronic payment procedures or providing training for employees in Iraq.

As for Visa, Mr. Andrew stated that the company is willing to contribute expertise and is interested in supporting the Iraqi government’s plans for electronic payment, economic reform, and banking reform by bringing cutting-edge technologies and solutions to the market. He also expressed the desire to continue working with the Central Bank of Iraq and all other institutions in the country’s banking sector. It also plans to hire additional Iraqis at its Baghdad headquarters in order to achieve 500,000 acceptance points from electronic payment points of sale in the country.
