Iraqi Dinar Strengthens as Dollar Falls in Baghdad and Erbil Markets
The exchange rate of the US dollar against the Iraqi dinar declined on Sunday morning in both Baghdad and Erbil, reflecting renewed strength in the local currency at the start of trading.
According to market reports, the dollar fell in Baghdad’s main Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya exchanges to 152,600 Iraqi dinars per 100 US dollars, down from 153,250 dinars recorded on Saturday.
Currency exchange shops across Baghdad also reported lower rates. The selling price dropped to 153,000 dinars per 100 dollars, while the buying price fell to 152,000 dinars.
A similar trend was observed in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region. Exchange markets there recorded a selling price of 152,450 dinars per 100 dollars and a buying price of 152,350 dinars.
The decline in the dollar’s value follows recent fluctuations in Iraq’s foreign exchange market, where rates have moved in response to market demand, liquidity conditions, and currency trading activity.
Market observers continue to monitor exchange rate movements closely due to their impact on consumer prices, imports, and overall economic activity across the country.
