Ali Al-Lami, a member of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, confirmed on Tuesday that the Iraqi Oil Tankers Company has a significant shortage, indicating that the director of the company emphasized their need for 60 tankers.
“The Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee hosted the Director General of the Iraqi Oil Tankers Company in Basra Governorate, to identify the most important obstacles and problems related to the company’s work,” Al-Lami stated.
According to his explanation, “the company’s director complains about the lack of tankers in this company, and requested support from the Ministry of Oil and the Parliamentary Oil Committee to obtain some approvals and the necessary financial allocation to purchase oil tankers.”
Al-Lami brought up that “the head of the big hauler organization affirmed during his facilitating in the parliamentary oil board, the organization’s requirement for 60 big haulers to address the issue and accomplish independence,” showing that “the cost of one big hauler arrives at 150 million bucks, and that Iraq as of now possesses just six big haulers.”
