Iraq’s Ministry of Oil said that the country’s average crude oil exports during September have been around 2.6 million barrels per day.
The ministry issued a statement to clarify reports claiming that Iraq’s oil exports had reached 4 million barrels per day. According to the ministry, that figure was recorded on only one day and does not represent the daily average.
The statement explained that the higher export volume resulted from a combination of shipments, including Qayyarah crude oil exported outside the Strait of Hormuz, oil loaded at southern export ports, and shipments sent through the northern export route. These exports were carried out according to scheduled loading plans and tanker capacity requirements.
The ministry stressed that the average daily export rate for September so far remains about 2.6 million barrels per day. It added that the final figure could still change depending on export volumes during the rest of the month.
Officials described this level of exports as an important achievement, especially under current challenges and the ongoing closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry said it continues working to keep exports flowing at the highest possible levels in order to secure revenue needed for Iraq’s public budget and government spending.
