Rafiq al-Salihi, a member of the Parliamentary Transportation and Communications Committee, has called on the Communications and Media Commission to quickly enforce court rulings requiring mobile phone companies to pay their outstanding debts to the government.
Al-Salihi said that protecting public money and respecting the decisions of Iraq’s courts means ensuring that these debts are collected without delay.
He explained that the money owed by the companies belongs to the state and involves significant amounts that could help support the national budget and fund services for citizens.
Al-Salihi also stressed the need for the Communications and Media Commission to strengthen efforts to collect unpaid taxes and fees from mobile phone companies, saying this would help protect public funds and increase government revenues.
He added that enforcing the court rulings should be a top priority to ensure the state recovers all financial dues owed by the telecom companies.
