Iraqi PM calls on US firms to seize investment opportunities

Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has invited American companies to expand their investments in Iraq, highlighting opportunities in petrochemicals, glass manufacturing, phosphate production, gas projects, and clean energy.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce in New York, al-Zaidi said Iraq offers strong investment potential thanks to its natural resources, workforce, and strategic geographic location. He noted that the government is working to turn these advantages into economic growth and new investment opportunities.

The prime minister stressed that Iraq is committed to supporting investors by offering incentives such as land ownership for approved projects under Iraqi law, along with tax and customs exemptions that can last up to ten years.

Al-Zaidi also pointed to major infrastructure and transportation projects, especially the Development Road project, which is designed to strengthen Iraq’s role as a trade and transit corridor connecting East and West.

He said the government wants to attract industrial projects and establish new factories that can help diversify the economy, reduce dependence on oil, and create employment opportunities for Iraqis.

The prime minister encouraged representatives of the US Chamber of Commerce and American companies to participate in the upcoming Baghdad Energy Conference, where new investment opportunities will be presented. He emphasized that Iraq is seeking long-term economic partnerships built on cooperation, shared interests, and sustainable investment.
