Sinopec has awarded a Marine Warranty Survey contract to New Wave Offshore Energy for work related to Phase 2 of the Associated Gas Upstream Project (AGUP) in southern Iraq.
The project is part of the larger Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP), which is being operated by TotalEnergies in partnership with Basra Oil Company and QatarEnergy.
Under the agreement, New Wave Offshore Energy will provide Marine Warranty Surveyor services for the international transportation of line pipes and other materials needed for the project.
The company’s work will include reviewing transportation plans, shipment procedures, loading and unloading operations, transport routes, weather conditions, and overall risk management to help ensure materials are delivered safely and efficiently from different locations around the world.
AGUP Phase 2 is linked to the redevelopment of Iraq’s Ratawi oil field, a major project that officially began in September 2025.
The development aims to significantly increase production at the field, with output expected to reach around 210,000 barrels per day by 2028.
The contract marks another step forward in the expansion of the Ratawi project and the broader effort to strengthen Iraq’s energy and gas infrastructure through international partnerships and investment.
