On Friday, the Commander of the Joint Forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Admiral Stuart Munch, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani spoke about a number of matters pertaining to logistical support for the NATO mission in Iraq following the withdrawal of the international coalition fighting ISIS.

On the fringes of his sovereignty’s participation in the Munich Security Conference 2024, today, Friday, Prime Minister Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received Admiral Stuart Munch, Commander of the Joint Forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

During the discussion, the general security situation in the area was reviewed, and the NATO mission and the Iraqi security forces worked together, particularly when it came to intelligence coordination and training. Along with these topics, they talked about a variety of logistical concerns pertaining to the NATO operation in Iraq following the withdrawal of the multinational coalition against ISIS. Next May, the Netherlands will take over as the mission’s head within NATO.

The degree of coordination and collaboration between the Iraqi Armed Forces and NATO in bolstering regional and global security and stability was commended by the prime minister.

Admiral Munch, for his part, conveyed gratitude to the government for the facilities and assistance given to the NATO operation in Iraq.
