The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has pushed back against rumors claiming that electricity prices were raised, calling the reports completely false and misleading.
The ministry confirmed that the electricity tariff has not changed. It remains fully subsidized, with the residential rate still set at just 10 dinars per kilowatt-hour — roughly less than one cent in U.S. dollars.
Officials also explained that the government continues to cover over 65% of the actual production cost, so citizens can receive electricity at the lowest possible price.
