Former head of the Parliamentary Communications Committee, Zahra al-Bajari, said on Saturday that Korek Telecom has not paid its debts for years, calling it a clear break of the law that needs serious investigation.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, al-Bajari said the company has ignored repeated demands to pay what it owes. She stressed that this behavior hurts public money and shows a lack of real oversight over telecom companies in Iraq.

She added that the next parliament must reopen this file and hold Korek accountable for its violations. According to her, no company can operate properly in Iraq unless it follows the law and meets its financial responsibilities.

Earlier, MP Haider al-Mutairi had raised the issue with the Ministry of Finance and the Communications and Media Commission. He revealed that unpaid debts from just two years alone have reached 60 billion Iraqi dinars, highlighting the scale of the problem.
