Basra Gas Company says its operations are safe after an attack on two oil tankers in Iraqi waters.
In a statement shared with dinaropinions.com, the company explained that early on Thursday, March 12, 2026, two tankers were attacked in Iraqi territorial waters. One of them, the Zephyros, was carrying condensate from Basra Gas Company and was waiting in Khor Al-Zubair to load naphtha from SOMO when the attack happened. The company clarified that the Zephyros had already finished loading its condensate at Basra Gas Company’s marine terminal on March 3 and left the terminal the next morning.
Basra Gas Company stressed that its facilities were not affected by the attack. Production and exports are continuing as usual. The company says it is running safely, processing the gas it currently has, and staying in close contact with the Iraqi government and partners in the oil sector, especially as they make adjustments to production because of the regional situation.
“Our top priorities remain the safety of our employees, protecting our assets, and keeping our operations running safely,” the company said.
