A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Wafa Muhammad Karim, has explained how salaries will be distributed to employees in the Kurdistan Region, saying the new system is different from the one used under the previous government.
Karim said the transfer of salary funds to the Kurdistan Region is moving forward smoothly and should not be viewed as a reduction of the region’s powers. Instead, she explained that payroll information is being submitted to ensure employees receive their salaries on time.
According to Karim, salaries will be paid through the “My Account” platform, allowing government employees in the Kurdistan Region to receive their wages electronically, similar to employees in other Iraqi provinces.
She noted that the current government has changed the way salaries are handled. Unlike previous arrangements, the government no longer requires payroll lists to approve funding. Instead, it has adopted the same salary payment process used across the rest of Iraq.
Karim said this means employees in the Kurdistan Region and other governorates will now receive their salaries through a unified mechanism, creating greater consistency in the payment system.
She also pointed out that the new approach aims to avoid the salary delays that occurred under previous governments, helping ensure that employees receive their payments more regularly and efficiently.
