Iraq’s Ministry of Planning held an expanded meeting to move forward its artificial intelligence strategy, with a focus on setting practical goals that match the country’s capabilities and long-term ambitions.
Discussions centered on refining the strategy’s objectives to meet ministry standards, while making sure the goals are measurable and achievable.
One major topic was the development of a sovereign national language model, known as Iraq LLM, aimed at supporting Iraq’s own AI capabilities.
Officials also reviewed AI infrastructure needs, including local physical servers and cloud systems managed through the Information Technology Department.
The meeting brought together senior government officials, AI advisers, and experts from the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence, showing growing momentum behind Iraq’s push to build a national AI framework.
