Al-Badr: Iraq does not have sovereignty in choosing economic projects

Karim Al-Badr, a researcher from Iraq, confirmed on Tuesday that Iraq did not choose important economic projects on its own. This suggests that America dictated development and the port of Aqaba.

In a statement to, Al-Badr stated, “The development path is an American attempt to dwarf Iraq in the region, while Iraq is the beating heart of the world and the strategic road linking Asia and Europe.” He also noted that “the profits that come from the development path will return to Iraq with only one billion dollars annually, according to a statement by the Minister of Transport,” whereas “the silk road will generate many times this amount if implemented.”

“The Sudanese government sold the Faw port and the railways in partnership with three other countries so that the Gulf countries would benefit from American dictates,” he went on to say. “Giving the Aqaba pipeline and exporting Iraqi oil to an unknown desert is also a decision to support Jordan’s close relationship with America,” he said.

Ali Al-Fatlawi, a member of the Al-Fatah Alliance, had previously stated that the agreement on the development path and the abandonment of the Silk Road were the result of American interventions in Iraq.
