Independent politician Haider Al-Lami has dismissed rumors that the Iraqi government is planning to raise the value of the US dollar against the Iraqi dinar, saying there is no truth to the reports.
Al-Lami, who is considered close to former Prime Minister and State of Law Coalition leader Nouri al-Maliki, said the claims about a government decision or approval from the Coordination Framework to increase the dollar’s value are completely false.
According to Al-Lami, the government has no intention of taking any step that would weaken the dinar or create additional pressure on citizens.
He said the government is focused on managing the country’s economic situation responsibly by developing plans that support stability, ensure the availability of essential goods, and maintain a stable exchange rate in the local market.
Al-Lami also stressed that the government understands its responsibilities and is working to avoid decisions that could negatively affect the public. He added that efforts to fight corruption remain an important priority and called for the removal of corrupt and controversial figures from positions of influence.
Despite the economic challenges facing Iraq, Al-Lami expressed optimism about the country’s future, saying there are positive signs and hope for better days ahead as the government continues its efforts to strengthen stability and improve conditions for citizens.
