Official Consultations for Iraq’s Next Government Set to Begin Next Week

Former MP Ayoub Al-Rubaie announced Thursday that official talks to form Iraq’s next government will start next week. He said the coordination framework has set up several special committees to speed up the process.

Al-Rubaie explained that one committee will focus on identifying candidates for the premiership, while another will work to bring together political parties and groups to unify their plans for forming the new government.

He added that intensive meetings are expected in Baghdad with representatives from multiple political forces. “The signs indicate that consultations will be flexible and smooth, thanks to broad political support to move quickly,” Al-Rubaie said.

He also noted that the current political situation is less complex than in previous years, which increases the likelihood that the government formation timeline will be followed.
