Al-Tawil said Thursday that political disputes and American pressure are behind the delay in passing the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law in Parliament. He believes these efforts are aimed at weakening the PMF and denying its fighters their rights.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Al-Tawil said the law has been delayed because of political conflicts, the interests of certain political blocs, and foreign interference.
He added that some political groups are giving in to American demands and openly opposing the law to satisfy Washington, despite repeated calls for its approval.
Al-Tawil also said there are clear efforts to weaken the PMF and undermine the rights of its fighters. He placed the greatest responsibility on the Coordination Framework, while also criticizing Parliament for failing to move the law forward, especially since PMF representatives are part of the legislative body.
