Bitcoin rebounds with US stocks but stalls below $84,200 resistance

Bitcoin climbed above $83,000 during Tuesday’s recovery in U.S. stock markets before pulling back toward $82,600. Falling oil prices helped support gains across financial markets as investors returned to riskier assets.

According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin was trading at $82,601.56 in the latest reported snapshot, up 0.8% over 24 hours. Its price ranged between $81,155.23 and $83,249.46 during the day.

Ethereum also gained, rising 1.6% to $2,437.55. It traded between $2,374.52 and $2,471.63, remaining below its daily high.

U.S. stocks also moved higher on Tuesday. The S&P 500 rose 0.70% to 7,744.72, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.59% to 26,585.47. Healthcare stocks reached a record high as oil prices declined, helping the market recover from recent technology-sector selling.

The rebound followed Monday’s recovery, when investors returned to technology stocks after concerns about CoreWeave’s debt and the cost of financing artificial intelligence infrastructure had put pressure on the sector.

Falling oil prices and hopes for peace talks also helped improve market sentiment. However, analysts warned that Bitcoin’s recovery does not yet confirm a lasting change in its overall trend.

Trader Ardi previously identified $84,200 as the key level Bitcoin needs to break above to move out of its current bearish structure. The assessment followed a rebound from a weekly low near $79,800.

Bitcoin’s daily high of $83,249.46 remained about 1.14% below that level. From its later price of $82,601.56, the cryptocurrency would need to rise around 1.94% to reach $84,200.

Ardi said a break above this level could create an opportunity for a move toward the upper end of the recent trading range. However, Bitcoin would need to move above its recent lower highs to support that outlook.

Earlier analysis also identified potential liquidation clusters around $83,300–$83,700 and $84,300–$84,700. These levels represent estimated areas where leveraged positions could be forced to close, rather than confirmed liquidations during Tuesday’s rally.

Glassnode’s October 19 market report found that selling pressure had eased after Bitcoin’s early October decline, but fresh buying demand remained weak.

The firm reported that traders in perpetual futures markets were still net sellers, although the selling had slowed. Bitcoin ETF outflows had narrowed to around $230 million, but trading volume in those funds had fallen below the firm’s reference range.

Spot market activity also remained weak. Glassnode’s spot cumulative volume delta fell to negative $83.6 million from negative $67 million a week earlier, indicating continued aggressive selling in the spot market.

Options traders were also paying more for downside protection, suggesting that concerns about further price declines remained. Meanwhile, on-chain fees and transfer volume each fell by roughly 10%, while active addresses remained stable.

Analysts have also highlighted $82,000 as an important support level. ViaBTC chief analyst Jeff Ko and Bitget Wallet research lead Lacie Zhang previously warned that a break below the $82,000–$82,500 area could increase the risk of a decline toward $80,000.

Zhang outlined a possible October trading range of $78,000 to $95,000. For a stronger bullish outlook, she said Bitcoin would need to recover above $87,500. A sustained drop below $80,000 would weaken her forecast.

High oil prices, elevated interest rates, and renewed inflation concerns remain potential obstacles to a stronger recovery.

For now, Bitcoin’s move above $83,000 shows that buyers have returned, but weak spot demand and continued caution among traders suggest that the market has not yet confirmed a sustained bullish reversal.
