BNB Chain contract deployments nearly triple to 12.3M in Q3

BNB Chain contract deployments nearly triple to 12.3M in Q3

BNB Chain recorded 12.3 million smart contract deployments in the third quarter of 2026, nearly tripling from 4.5 million in Q2. The growth came as the network expanded its AI agent tools and transaction activity increased, even though the number of daily active addresses declined.

According to BNB Chain’s October 28 update, based on Blockworks’ Q3 token-holder report, the network averaged around 5,100 unique daily contract deployers, up 13% from the previous quarter. Its BNB Agent Studio platform also released four software versions between July and September.

The increase in contract deployments came as developers showed growing interest in applications that can manage wallets, make payments, and carry out transactions automatically. However, the report does not establish how many new contracts were linked to active decentralized applications, automated systems, or AI agents.

BNB Chain deployments increase as active addresses decline

Smart contract deployments rose approximately 173% from the previous quarter, significantly outpacing the growth in unique deployers. This suggests that individual deployers were creating more contracts, although the data does not show how many deployments involved repeated launches or automated activity.

Meanwhile, average daily active addresses fell 14%, from 2.43 million to 2.10 million. New addresses also declined 27%, averaging 482,000 per day. Despite these drops, quarterly transactions increased 7.5% to 1.51 billion.

Prediction market platform Predict.fun was a major contributor to transaction growth, processing 45.3 million transactions compared with 2.2 million in Q2. This accounted for around 40% of the network’s net increase in transactions.

Trading router GMGN, LiFi, and MEV bots contributed another 45 million transactions combined. Average transactions per active address rose from 6.3 to 7.8 per day, indicating that the addresses remaining active were carrying out more transactions.

Token launchpads also generated substantial activity. Combined token creation nearly tripled to 2.59 million launches. Flap accounted for 2.02 million, while Four.meme recorded 568,000. However, the report did not directly link these launches to AI agents.

BNB Agent Studio expands its AI tools

Launched on July 1, BNB Agent Studio allows developers to describe an AI agent through a prompt and deploy it on BNB Smart Chain with its own identity and wallet.

The platform released four versions during Q3, adding features such as paid data access through x402, agent earnings, TypeScript support, and wallet controls. Later updates introduced Turnkey’s policy engine, which can require human approval for transactions above specified limits, as well as NodeOps deployment without requiring a separate cloud account.

By early October, BNB Smart Chain had recorded 330,604 ERC-8004 agent registrations, representing around 61% of the 544,574 registrations tracked across blockchain networks.

However, registrations do not necessarily mean that all these agents are operating independently or generating economic activity. Some may be test deployments or demonstration projects that do not complete regular transactions.

BNB Chain had already attracted attention for its AI agent development during the first half of 2026. The latest figures show further growth in registrations, but they do not reveal how many agents are earning revenue or completing paid transactions.

Tokenized stock trading drives network revenue higher

AI development was only one part of BNB Chain’s third-quarter growth. Trading in tokenized equities also increased sharply.

According to the Blockworks report, tokenized-equity trading volume reached approximately $25.6 billion, compared with $2.4 billion in Q2. Decentralized exchanges accounted for $24.4 billion, while Ondo Global Markets contributed $1.2 billion.

By the end of September, BNB Chain’s tokenized-equity supply had reached $1.13 billion, roughly double its Q2 level. The network also had 1.8 million tokenized-equity holders.

Network revenue, measured through transaction fees and MEV payments, increased 54% to $54.2 million. Transaction fees contributed $49.1 million, while MEV payments accounted for $5.1 million.

GMGN’s trading router generated $8.8 million in fees, up from $2.2 million in Q2. The additional $6.6 million represented more than one-third of the quarterly increase in transaction fee revenue.

BNB Chain faces questions about the quality of its growth

The sharp rise in contract deployments does not automatically mean the network gained the same number of active applications or users. Deployment counts can include repeated launches and automated activity, so they need to be considered alongside other network metrics.

BNB Chain’s results were mixed in other areas as well. Stablecoin supply declined 4.6% to $13.22 billion, even as decentralized stablecoin swap volume increased 31%.

The August 25 Pasteur upgrade improved block capacity. Within a week, the new block-building system was producing approximately 98% of blocks, with average gas per block increasing by 28%.

BNB Chain’s remaining roadmap for 2026 includes a dedicated payment lane, possible gas-limit increases beyond 70 million, and a next-generation blockchain testnet targeted for release before the end of the year.
