Global oil prices surged sharply on Tuesday, with both major benchmarks posting strong gains as uncertainty continued to surround negotiations between the United States and Iran over a peace agreement and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Recent market reports show Brent crude climbing to around $88 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose to about $82.45 per barrel. The rally follows a gain of roughly 5% in the previous trading session.

The main driver behind the jump is growing concern that talks between Washington and Tehran have reached a deadlock. Investors had been hoping for progress that could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. However, the latest developments have reduced expectations of a quick agreement, raising fears of continued supply disruptions.

Brent crude reached its highest level since late July as traders reacted to the stalled negotiations and the possibility that restrictions affecting oil shipments through the region could remain in place for longer than expected.

Market analysts say oil prices are likely to remain highly sensitive to any news related to U.S.-Iran discussions and the future of the Strait of Hormuz. Because a significant share of global oil supplies normally passes through the waterway, any delay in reopening it continues to create uncertainty across energy markets.

For now, traders are closely watching diplomatic developments, as any breakthrough could ease supply concerns and pressure prices lower, while further setbacks could push oil prices even higher in the coming days.
