Iraq’s Ministry of Trade has held a meeting to discuss proposed amendments to Companies Law No. 21 of 1997, with participation from private sector representatives and relevant government bodies.
The meeting included representatives from economic federations and organisations, the Private Sector Development Council, the Iraq Securities Commission and the Company Registration Directorate.
According to the Ministry of Trade, participants reviewed comments and proposals on the draft amendments prepared by the ministry’s Legal Directorate.
The meeting was organised by the Private Sector Development Department as part of efforts to involve private sector representatives in updating Iraq’s economic laws.
All comments and proposals discussed will be documented and submitted to the committee responsible for amending the law. The committee is chaired by the Director General of the Legal Directorate and will review the feedback before the formal amendment process is completed.
