Progress on Iraq’s Development Road project was a key topic during a meeting in Baghdad between Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
During the meeting, Al-Zaidi stressed the importance of creating a clear plan for financing and carrying out the project. He called for practical steps to be taken based on specific timelines to keep the project moving forward.
Uraloğlu reaffirmed Turkey’s strong support for the Development Road project and said both countries agree on the importance of starting work on the project’s core infrastructure.
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and Turkey. Al-Zaidi noted that his upcoming visit to Turkey is expected to include the signing of several memorandums of understanding aimed at expanding cooperation in a range of sectors.
The Development Road project is considered one of Iraq’s most important strategic initiatives, designed to boost trade, transportation, and economic cooperation between Iraq, Turkey, and the wider region.
