Gold prices remained near the one million IQD mark per mithqal in Baghdad and Erbil on Saturday, according to local market data.

In Baghdad’s well-known Al-Nahr Street gold market, 21-carat Gulf, Turkish and European gold was selling at 1,006,000 IQD per mithqal, which equals five grams. The buying price was recorded at 1,002,000 IQD.

The latest figures show a noticeable increase from Thursday, when the same type of gold was selling for 980,000 IQD per mithqal.

Meanwhile, 21-carat Iraqi gold was sold at 976,000 IQD per mithqal, while traders were buying it at 972,000 IQD.

Prices in jewelry stores were slightly higher. The selling price of 21-carat Gulf gold ranged between 1,005,000 and 1,015,000 IQD per mithqal, depending on the shop and design. Iraqi gold was selling between 975,000 and 985,000 IQD per mithqal.

The latest rise reflects continued strength in the local gold market, with prices staying close to record levels as demand remains steady.
