Gold prices remained largely stable in Baghdad on Saturday, while markets in Erbil recorded noticeable gains, as the Iraqi dinar strengthened slightly against the U.S. dollar in the parallel market.
In Baghdad’s wholesale gold markets on Al-Nahr Street, the selling price of one mithqal (approximately 4.25–4.5 grams) of 21-karat Gulf, Turkish, and European gold stood at 883,000 Iraqi dinars, while the buying price reached 879,000 dinars.
Prices for locally produced Iraqi 21-karat gold also remained unchanged, with the selling price at 853,000 dinars per mithqal and the buying price at 849,000 dinars.
In retail jewelry shops across Baghdad, 21-karat imported gold was selling between 885,000 and 895,000 dinars per mithqal. Iraqi 21-karat gold was priced between 855,000 and 865,000 dinars, depending on the shop and manufacturing costs.
Meanwhile, gold prices moved higher in Erbil. The price of one mithqal of 22-karat gold reached 961,000 dinars, while 21-karat gold was selling at 918,000 dinars per mithqal.
The price of 18-karat gold in Erbil climbed to 787,000 dinars per mithqal, reflecting stronger demand and market activity compared to Baghdad.
Traders said the differences in pricing between Baghdad and Erbil were influenced by local market conditions, supply levels, and movements in the dollar exchange rate, which remains an important factor in determining gold prices across Iraq.
