Iran’s top oil official says the country’s oil sector played a key role during the recent conflict and kept running despite serious threats.
Hamid Pourd, head of the National Iranian Oil Company, said the sector was “part of the battle” and managed to maintain production and exports throughout the war.
He praised workers and managers, saying they stayed on the job and did not step back, even with risks to major facilities like Kharg Island, which is Iran’s main oil export terminal.
According to him, the company focused on three main goals during the conflict: keeping oil production going, continuing exports, and securing foreign currency for the country.
He said that over a 40-day period, staff managed thousands of oil wells and storage sites, making sure operations didn’t stop despite repeated threats.
Reports were also presented by different company units, showing the steps taken to keep oil and gas flowing during that time.
Meanwhile, Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref praised the sector’s performance, calling it a standout part of the country’s economy during the war and recognizing the efforts of workers in this critical industry.
