Iraq to Train 100 Digital Leaders in AI

The second meeting of Iraq’s Higher Committee for Artificial Intelligence (Supreme Committee for Artificial Intelligence) was presided over by Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani on Sunday.

Nearly all attendees had access to a computer, in contrast to the August inaugural meeting of this committee.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister said:

“At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the legislative strategy for drafting a bill to regulate AI applications and government plans to enhance AI capabilities among employees, the education sector, agriculture, and water resources.

“Proposals for incorporating computer and AI subjects into the Ministry of Education’s curriculum for the upcoming academic year were presented to the Prime Minister. In order to position Iraq at the forefront of technological advancement in the region by utilizing its diverse capabilities, he emphasized that every school ought to be outfitted with a smart screen and an internet connection.

“An initiative aimed at attracting skilled foreign talent to the public and private sectors was approved by the Prime Minister. In the initial phase of this project, 100 digital leaders will be trained under the direction of international experts and exposed to the most recent global practices with the intention of developing and implementing policies that will improve citizen service quality.”
