The Central Bank of Iraq has strongly denied rumors that it plans to change the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar.
In an official statement, the bank said a fake document has been circulating on social media and some news platforms. The document falsely claims that the Prime Minister’s Office submitted a request to Parliament’s Finance Committee to change the exchange rate to 1,600 dinars per US dollar.
The Central Bank confirmed that the document is forged and has no connection to any official government or banking institution.
The bank warned citizens and media organizations not to rely on unverified reports or misleading information that could create confusion in financial markets and among the public.
It also urged everyone to obtain information only from official sources and statements issued directly by the Central Bank of Iraq.
The denial comes as speculation about the future of the exchange rate continues to circulate, but the Central Bank stressed that there are no official plans to alter the current value of the Iraqi dinar based on the false document being shared online.
