Iraq is working to make its business and investment environment more attractive, according to Adham al-Fakhar, head of the Iraqi-French Business Council.
Al-Fakhar told the state-run dinaropinions.com that a French delegation received a clear message that Iraq is open to business and investment. Both sides expressed their willingness to build partnerships. He said a recent forum focused on the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, with 11 companies taking part. More investment conferences covering other sectors are also planned.
He acknowledged that doing business in Iraq still comes with challenges, but said the government is working on special exceptions to encourage foreign companies to invest. He stressed that attracting foreign partners should also involve strengthening the capabilities of Iraq’s local private sector.
Al-Fakhar added that real progress will depend on practical steps, not just promises. He called on the government to take bold action to create better conditions for investment.
