Iraqi MP Hussein Sahib of the Ishraqa Kanoun bloc has called on Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi to use his upcoming visit to Washington to address several key issues that directly impact Iraq’s national interests.
Speaking on Saturday, Sahib said the visit provides an important opportunity for Iraq to raise matters of strategic importance with U.S. officials, particularly the issue of Iraqi funds that remain frozen abroad.
He stressed the need for the government to work toward recovering these funds, describing the matter as a priority that could support Iraq’s financial and economic interests.
Sahib also highlighted the importance of discussing support for Iraq’s security forces during the visit. He said efforts should focus on strengthening the capabilities of security institutions and ensuring they receive the equipment and resources needed to fulfill their responsibilities.
