The money supply exists both within Iraq and abroad, totaling around 100 trillion. However, the majority of this amount is located outside of Iraq. It’s important to note that the dinar is not tradable; therefore, when it is outside Iraq, the central bank shows little interest in it. They disregard it because it cannot be traded or utilized for any purpose. The funds located outside Iraq were used to settle debts with other nations for their assistance. The United States holds approximately half of Iraq’s money supply. Iraq’s primary concern is the dinar that remains within its borders, which is estimated to be between 20 and 40 trillion dinar. When the exchange rate is adjusted, three zeros are removed from this amount, effectively reducing the money supply from 20 to 40 trillion down to 20 to 40 billion.
