For the Iraqi dinar’s future, there are actually just two viable possibilities. The first possibility, a total redenomination or neutral event that would convert trillions of dinars in circulation into billions, is something none of us want to see.The second alternative is more practical; with the IMF’s assistance, Iraq will diversify its economy, as we have been advocating for more than ten years, and float the currency so that the official rate of the Iraqi dinar is determined by market forces and the country’s economic performance.
